Ytraberget lies by the Hafrsfjord, in Sola municipality. There are the ruins of a stone fortress here, which date back to well before Viking times. The fortress is believed to have been used during the battle of Hafrsfjord in 872. You can see remnants of stone walls around the whole plateau as well as the ruins of dwellings. In 1972, King Olav V placed a memorial stone here to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the battle of Hafrsfjord, which led to the unification of Norway.
