The Western Cemetery lies about three kilometres to the west of the city centre. It dates from 1902. There is a chapel here, which was built when the cemetery opened, and a crematorium. It is here that you will find the largest war memorial in the city, and it is this that is likely to attract most visitors. The memorial reveals this to be the final resting place of servicemen from many countries, including 331 Russians and 102 Britons, as well as Poles, Yugoslavs and Scandinavians. There is an office here for visitors.
