The West Norwegian Emigration Centre lies on the island of Radøy, which is within easy driving distance of Bergen. The centre offers a guided tour and film shows. These introduce the visitor to the history of the emigration of people from this part of the world to the United States. Several original buildings, including a Lutheran church from North Dakota, have been shipped back from America and reconstructed here. The museum offers special festival programmes and seminars at certain times.
