The West Norway Museum of Decorative Art is located in the centre of Norway. The striking building was built in the late nineteenth century. The museum’s permanent collection is made up of more than thirty thousand objects illustrating the development of craft and design over more than five hundred years. The myriad items on display include a fine collection of Norwegian silverware, and the oldest violin in the world. The instrument belonged to musician Ole Bull, and dates from the sixteenth century. The museum has a shop.
