To the east of Bremanger island, near Skatestraumen you will find Vingen, one of the largest sites of ancient rock carvings in Scandinavia. Some of the carvings here are believed to date back more than four thousand years. The figures carved into the hillsides include animals, humans and various symbols. There are more than 1500 carvings here. The newest are perhaps one thousand years old. The site was plainly of great significance in pagan times.
