The Vignes Mining Museum lies to the west of Avaldsnes, near Haugesund airport, on the island of Karmøy. At the museum you can learn about the history of the copper mines that were located here. The mines were once very important to the economy and society of the area, and during the nineteenth century employed more than three thousand people. While you are here you can take the opportunity to wander through the impressive Fransahagen park.
