Vestre Porsgrunn Church lies near the heart of the Telemark town. It stands in a well kept and attractive churchyard, with some established trees around it. The church was built in the eighteenth century. It was built by the local builder Joen Jacobsen. The church is built of timber and has a tower and spire. An extension was added in 1830 which included a sacristy, used for private confession, not unknown within the Lutheran communion.
