Situated in the heart of the fjordside village of Aurlandvangen, Vangen church was founded in medieval times. Dating back to 1202, the church as you see it today is dominated by the early Gothic style, and is influenced by English architecture, although it has been substantially altered and restored several times. Both the pulpit and the altar candlesticks were made in the seventeenth century. The stained glass windows are by renowned artist Emmanuel Vigeland.
