Vallø Church lies on a peninsular a few kilometres to the east of Tønsberg. The church was built to serve the workers in the local salt works. It was constructed in 1782 from wood. Both the exterior and interior of the building are in a Louis XVI style. The building is essentially as it appeared two hundred years ago. The church has a memorial in bronze that depicts a mother clutching her child. This commemorates the 52 civilians killed in the Allied bombing of Vallø in 1945.
