Utsira Lighthouse lies towards the west of the little island, which forms the smallest municipality in Norway. It was built in 1844 and is still in use. Although automated, it continues to be manned. It stands on the highest point of the island and is 48 metres above sea level, making it the highest placed in Norway. There are regular guided tours during the summer months, and at other times by arrangement with the lighthouse keeper.
