The University Museum of Tromsø lies a few kilometres to the south of Tromsø city centre. It houses the largest collection of exhibits related to the indigenous Sami people of Northern Norway. The museum contains an exhibition about the Northern Lights phenomenon. There is a good collection of religious art from the thirteenth century through to the nineteenth century. There is a cafeteria and a gift shop here.
