Undredal Stave Church lies on the banks of the Aurlandsfjord, across the water from Aurdal itself. The church was originally built in 1147 and dedicated to St. Nicholas. It was substantially restored in 1722, and has remained largely unchanged in appearance since. In 1962 a restoration revealed the ancient interior decoration you see today. The church contains a chandelier that is believed to be medieval. Its pulpit is late seventeenth century. The church is open to visitors during the summer season. Guided tours are available to groups.
