Tøyengata 38 lies just to the south of the attractive Tøyen arkland area, to the north east of Oslo City Centre. It is a preserved and restored working class apartment that is maintained by Oslo City Museum. Inside the apartment you can see the simple furnishing and primitive living conditions that would have been endured by a family in the early years of the twentieth century. During the years of industrialisation in Norway, there was grinding poverty and great suffering, and this exhibition gives some insight into that.
