Tøyen Manor House lies about one kilometre from the centre of Oslo, in the middle of an attractive parkland area. The manor was originally a convent until it was confiscated from the Church at the time of the Reformation and passed into private hands. The estate was granted to the chancellor, Jens Bjelke in 1640. Nowadays the ancient manor plays host to a variety of events and temporary exhibitions. There is a cafe here for visitors. The grounds are an excellent place to enjoy a picnic.
