Trondenes Historical Centre lies on the edge of the town of Harstad, in attractive surroundings by a lake. Its modern exhibitions detail the history of the region which has been of importance since Viking Times. The lower floor has exhibitions on the Viking and medieval history, and includes a Multimedia section. The upper floor has displays on post-Reformation history and more recent times. Information is presented in both Norwegian and English. The centre has a cafe and a shop.
