The Tromsø Military Museum lies across the water from the island of Tromsø. It occupies the site of the former German naval battery from World War II. A major exhibit deals with the famous sinking of the warship "Tirpitz", which happened nearby at the island of Håkøya in 1944. Photographs, military paraphernalia, and various items of weaponry and equipment are on display.
