Tromsø Cathedral is located near the centre of the town, on Storgata. It is a charming, traditionally styled building, painted yellow. It has a high tower and spire. It is the only cathedral built of wood in Norway, and one of a very few in the world. The cathedral, which serves an Evangelical Lutheran Population, was founded in 1861. The cathedral plays host to many classical concerts, especially during the season of the midnight sun.
