Torvet is the main square of Tønsberg and lies in the heart of this town, rich in history. Two of the finest old buildings in the town can be seen here, namely the former Town Hall and the Old Fire Station. The square was once the site of the Church of Our Lady, one of several medieval churches that stood in the town. The graveyard lies beneath the tarmac. The square hosts fruit and vegetable and flower markets througout the week.
