Tønsberg Cathedral was consecrated in 1858. It was built of red brick in Gothic style to the designs or architect Christian Grosch. The church seats five hundred. It is built on the site of the old medieval church of St. Laurentius. The altarpiece is from the old Church of Our Lady, and was painted in the late eighteenth century and depicts the Agony in the Garden. The pulpit, which is seventeenth century, comes from the same old church. The church holds two sixteenth century Bibles. It hosts concerts.
