The Tirpitz Museum is located at Kåfjord, to the east of Alta. The battleships Tirpitz and Scharnhorst were stationed here with more than fifteen thousand German soldiers during World War II. The permanent exhibitions contain a wealth of information about both the battleships, along with displays of photographs, uniforms and other artefacts. This is also the place to learn more about the battle of Kåfjord. There is a shop selling souvenirs and a cafe at the museum.
