To the west of Ørsta lie a range of mountains carved from the rock by the action of shifting glaciers during the Ice Age. They provide excellent opportunities for walkers to experience the glories of the great Norwegian outdoors and enjoy some fantastic views without venturing too far from civilisation. The Sunnmøre Alps rise to heights of more than 1500 metres above sea level.
