Stromsø Church lies across the river from Drammen town centre. It is a beautiful wooden building, in cruciform shape, that predates the town’s great development as a trading centre. It was built in the seventeenth century. The church is the town’s largest wooden building and seats 920 - the exact population of the parish when it was constructed. The church crypt is open to the public, and has three vaults. One belongs to the Knoff family, who founded the church.
