Stordal Old Church lies in a village a few miles to the east of Ålesund. The church dates from the year of the French Revolution, 1789. It is famed for its interior, whose walls, ceiling and pillars are adorned with the finest baroque and Renaissance decorations. Some of the inventory predates the church, including the font and crucifix and was salvaged from a medieval stave church that once stood in the district. Guided tours are conducted in high season.
