The Stone Crosses at Tjora lie to the north of Sola. In the time of Erling Skjalgsson there was a stone church here. This was a "stave church" one of the elaborate medieval wooden structures that were once found all over the Norwegian countryside. Now all that remains of the holy place are these tow large crosses. They are believed to date to about 1000 AD, and predated the stave church. They are a fascinating tangible link to the past, and attract many visitors.
