The Stein School Museum is one of the main attractions of the Nes municipality. The school has a fascinating and coloutful interior designed to stimulate children. It was painted during the nineteen thirties by leading Norwegian artists Reidar Aulie, Dagfinn Werenskiold and Henrik Sørensen. The school is now a museum but was in everyday use between 1912 and 1972. It was often referred to as the "fairy tale school".
