Stavanger Maritime Museum lies near the harbour and the centre of the city. The permanent exhibitions of the museum explore the development of shipbuilding, shipping and maritime commerce over the past two hundred years. The museum features reconstructed historical environments, including a shipping company office, a sail loft, a general store, and a merchant’s living quarters. There are special activities for children. The museum owns two restored vessels which are in use during the summer season.
