The Statue of Henrik Ibsen lies outside Bergen’s main theatre "Den Nationale Scene". The sculpture is a stylised piece, the work Nils Raa. It was unveiled in 1981. Ibsen spent much of his twenties in Bergen, at the invitation of viloin virtuso Ole Bull. He is one of the world’s most celebrated dramatists, and one of Norway’s most famous sons. His verse and prose plays such as Peer Gynt, The Doll’s House and The Master Builder are performed all over the world in many languages.
