St Hallvard Church and Monastery lie just to the west of Oslo city centre, near to the attractive Tøyen park area. The monastery is a community of Franciscans. They serve a Roman Catholic church which caters to visitors and the local population. The church is named after the ancient patron of Oslo, St Hallvard. The church is modern, constructed in 1966, and appears neutral from the inside. However its interior architecture is spectacular and well worth seeing. Masses are said here in various languages.
