Despite what the name implies, the "ruined" church at Sola is no longer a ruin. The church was rebuilt, with attention to historical detail, in the original Romanesque style in 1995. The original church was built in the twelfth century and fell into disrepair. At one time it became the residence of Johan Bennetter, a painter. Large parts of it were demolished during the Second World War. The new, restored, building is a popular venue for weddings and funerals. Guided tours are conducted throughout the summer.
