Skongenes Lighthouse lies in a remote and fascinating location, a walk of about one hour over mountainous terrain from the nearest settlement of Halsør. The lighthouse was built in 1870 and has been fully automated and thus unmanned since 1985. Nonetheless it is a perfect location from which to observe the dramatic and powerful natural elements in safety. As well as a venue for day trips, the lighthouse offers self catering accomodation for those seeking a break with a difference.
