Skeifeltet, Steinkjer - Norway

Skeifeltet lies a few miles to the due south of Steinkjer. It is the largest ancient burial site in the North Trøndelag region. In all, the are one hundred and thirteen burial mounds here. Various important archaeological finds have been made here. These include the remains of some form of a military barracks from late Viking times. The evidence suggests that a significant force was once based here.
