The Såheim Power Station is located in the Telemark village of Rjukan. It is a striking building, renowned as one of the most beautiful pieces of industrial architecture in the country. It was constructed in 1915 and at the time was the largest power station in Europe. It is one of the foundations of modern industrial Norway. The power station is open during the summer season to visitors. You can see the enormous turbines at work, learn more about its history and enjoy a collection of notable sculpture.
