Sem Church lies just outside Tønsberg, to the northeast. It is a stone church, the oldest in Vestfold, and is thought to date back to the eleventh century. It is believed there was a wooden church on this site before that. The interior contains a medieval crucifix and early statue of the Madonna. There is a pulpit which dates from the sixteenth century. The altarpiece is from the time of King Christian IV.
