Salten Museum Bodø is located in one of the city’s most impressive buildings which dates from 1904. The museum’s collection was established in 1888. The exhibitions are about the history and culture of the Nordland region. One display gives insights into the life of a fisherman-farmer in the nineteenth century. An audiovisual show tells the story of the city of Bodø. Thousand year silver treasure discovered at Rønvik is among the museum’s prized possessions. There is also a fine exhibition on the indigenous Sami people.
