Røros Church lies in the heart of the historic mining town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was built in the heyday of the coppermining industry here and is testament to the prosperity this brought to the settlement. The baroque church, completed in 1784, seats 1600 and is the fourth largest in Norway. The interior is adorned with portraits of the directors of the mining company who paid for the building. The church has an impressive two hundred and fifty year old organ. Guided tours are conducted.
