The Rogalund Museum of Fine Art lies near the centre of Stavanger, in a park near the banks of a lake. Its striking modern design makes it a local landmark. The museum has a permanent collection of more than 2000 works, many of which are on display at any one time. These span the period between the beginning of the nineteenth century and the present day. It houses an important collection of works by Lars Hertervig. The museum hosts temporary exhibitions. It has a cafeteria and a shop.
