The Roald Amundsen House benefits from an idyllic location to the south of Oslo, and is within easy driving distance of the capital. It lies on the banks of the Bunnefjord. The celebrated polar explorer lived here between 1908 and 1928 and has been preserved as it was when he died. It is administered by Follo Museum. You can see his original personal effects and gain an insight into how he lived. Amundsen led the first successful expedition to the South Pole, in a dramatic race with the ill fated Captain Scott.
