Polaria lies on the waterfront just a few minutes from the centre of Tromsø. It is an housed in a striking and distinctive modern building that represents ice floes. The Arctic-themed science centre contains an aquarium that contains a variety of plant and animal life from the Northern oceans. It has a collection of seals that include the only bearded seals in captivity. There is a panoramic cinema which shows films of Arctic territories such as Spitzbergen. There is a cafeteria and gift shop. This is a first class family attraction.
