Oslo Ladegård is a stately home built in the early eighteenth century. It lies just to the west of the city centre. It was constructed above the remains of a thirteenth century bishop’s palace. All that remains of this palace is the cellar. This now contains an audio visual show explaining burial customs in the Middle Ages. The interior of the baroque building above it is furnished with beautiful furniture and fine paintings. Guided tours are conducted throughout the high tourist season. There is a cafeteria outside.
