Oslo Fire Museum lies in the eastern districts of the city, not far from the Tøyen area. It is housed in the old municipal fire station that was built in 1861. This was used until 1978. The fire museum aims to tell the history of firefighting in Norways capital from earliest times to the present day. A wide range items are on display including original equipment, photographs, badges and uniforms. You can also see veteran vehicles. The museum is run as a project by volunteers.
