The statue of Ole Bull lies in the heart of Bergen, in the centre of Ole Bulls plass. The piece is the work of sculptor Stephan Sinding. It was unveiled in 1901. The monumental bronze figure shows Bull playing the violin. It is almost four metres in height and is mounted on a rocky pedestal. Bull was one of the greatest violin vituosi of his age. Born in Bergen, he toured the world performing international repertoire and popularising Norwegian folk melodies.
