The Old Town Bridge is one of the distinctive landmarks of Trondheim. It was built in 1861 and was the work of municipal architect Carl Adolph Dahl. One of the bridge’s distinctive wooden gates is known as the Gate of Fortune. The bridge was once guarded by sentries and was watched over by a toll house. If you stroll across the bridge you can enjoy excellent views of the historic Wharves and the River Nid.
