The delightful old district of Skudeneshavn, in the south of the island of Karmøy, attracts many visitors. There are more than a hundred beautifully preserved residential and warehouse buildings here. They date from the nineteenth century, the heyday of the herring fishing industry, which brought prosperity to the town. The buildings reflect the Empire style in fashion at the town. The district hosts an annual festival of coastal culture. Guided tours of the area are conducted by the local tourist office.
