The Old Aker Church lies about a mile north of Oslo City Centre. It is the oldest building intact in the city of Oslo and the only medieval church that remains. The church is built in stone and has three naves. It is thought to date back to the late eleventh century. The churchyard contains graves from the twelfth century. The tower of the church is a late nineteenth century addition. The interior of the church is well worth seeing. The elaborate Baroque pulpit and font both date from the early eighteenth century.
