The Ofotbanen Railway is an absolute must for sightseers visiting Narvik. The railway was opened in 1903 and was principally designed to transport iron ore between Narvik and Kiruna, Sweden. It is one of the northernmost railway lines in the world, and the twin challenges of the hostile climate and mountainous terrain make it an extraordinary engineering feat. A ride on Ofotbanen gives you fabulous views over the Rombaksfjord, including a sight of the famous German U-boat sunk here during the war.
