The ruins of the old church on Nærøy is situated near the coast on the main island. It is built of stone and is well worth visiting. It dates back to the eleventh century. An old church is found here since in past times the island formed an important commercial and administrative centre. The church replaced a temple to the Norse Gods. A nature and heritage trail is based around the church.
