The Nobel Peace Centre lies in the south of Oslo, by the harbour. It was opened in 2005 by King Harald. The permanent exhibitions include displays, which integrate high technology, on all the recipients of the Nobel Prize over the past century. There is a cinema here and a special exhibition about the founder of the prize, Alfred Nobel. The centre serves as a venue for meetings, lectures and seminars. There is a cafeteria here and a souvenir shop.
