The Monument to the Migrants commemorates the journey of many Norwegians over the North Sea to England during the Second World War. Many Norwegians attempted to escape the German occupation by travelling to Britain. More than three hundred people died in their attempts to reach safety. The monument was created by Olav Stavseng. It was unveiled by Crown Prince Haakon to commemorate fifty years of peace.
