Molde Cathedral lies in the heart of the city. It is the third church to stand on this site; the two previous buildings burnt down. The church was consecrated in 1957. It consists of a double nave in neo-Gothic style. The interior is richly decorated. It includes the altarpiece created by Axel Ender which was rescued from the last cathedral’s flames. The dramatic bell tower is fifty metres high, and is free-standing.
