Merdøgaard Museum lies on the little island of Merdø, which is idyllically located in waters near to Arendal. A steamer visits Pollen, in the centre of the island, on a regular basis. The house is a listed building. It dates back to 1736. The museum is administered by the the regional Aust-Agder cultural and historical centre. It was once a farmhouse, and the interior is preserved as it would have been around the year 1800. There is a cafe nearby.
